Last edited on: June 17, 2008 Anyone may browse the threads of DesignContest.net. To post in any of the forums, you must register as a member. To post in some of the forums, you will need to be a member of the design team or a contest holder. By using DesignContest.net, you agree not to sue, or demand a settlement from DesignContest.net or any of its members, no matter how negligent DesignContest.net, or its members may be.
1.) Contests All contests held on this website will have an initial running time of two (2) weeks. For extensions of the two week duration, please refer to the Contest Extensions section below. A $30 administration fee must be added on top of the prize amount before being submitted.
Guaranteed Contests:
1. Your real name Apart from posting the necessary information in your contest thread, DesignContest.net agrees not to release your real name, telephone number, email address, or business information to any party at any time. DesignContest.net requires that you supply this information in order to brief our designers and so that, in the event of default, we have the means to contact you and give you a chance to complete your contest before distributing the prize ourselves. DesignContest.net reserves the right to attempt to contact you by choosing one or more of the methods in numbers one through five at the sole discretion of an administrator. Unless otherwise requested, contests are initially held open for a period of two weeks. Each designer may submit up to three (3) unique concepts to a contest. During the contest, the contest holder is encouraged to provide feedback to the entrants and may also request revisions to the submitted concepts. After the initial two weeks, the contest holder will be given one additional week (during which no new designs can be entered) to decide how to proceed. The deadline for a contest applies to contest submissions only - it does not signify the end of a contest. A contest is not officially over until either the winning designer has been paid, or a refund (if applicable) has been issued. All guaranteed prize money is held by the administration of DesignContest.net and awarded to the chosen contest winner or winners upon either of the following events, whichever should occur the earliest. (i) The contest holder has verified that the winning design files have been received; (ii) One week has passed from the date on which the winning design files have been sent by the winning designer to the contest holder, and DC.net administration has verified the sending of said files. Refund Policy: Subject to the “Choosing a Winner” section below: If after the first two weeks of a contest there are less than five (5) unique entries to that contest (revisions to previously submitted concepts do not apply as additional entries), then the contest holder may terminate the contest with no winner and retrieve all prize money, less the $30 administration fees and any outstanding extension fees. If there are at least 5 unique entries, but the contest holder does not wish to choose any of them as the winning design, then a 50% reduction will be made from the total prize, and the balance (minus $30 administration fees and any outstanding extension fees) can be refunded to the contest holder upon their own request. The above mentioned 50% will be paid to the participating designer whom, the staff votes, put in the most effort. Should the case arise for any reason, obligatory or by personal decision, that the contest holder does cancel a contest with ten (10) or more unique design entries, there will be no refund offered, nor will the contest holder be entitled to any type of compensation other than a design chosen from the current entries. If a design is chosen by the contest holder, then the prize funds will be awarded to the designer of the chosen entry, otherwise the funds will be disbursed appropriately amongst one or more of the participating designers of the contest. Refunds will not be offered for contests whose requested deadline is shorter than the default two weeks. For this reason, the two week duration is a strongly recommended minimum. External Entries By allowing a contest to run at DesignContest.net (DC) while simultaneously running a duplicate contest somewhere else or while receiving designs (for the same purpose as that contest) from any source other than the Design Team at DesignContest.net, the contest holder of that contest voids the above refund policy. Should any contest holder proceed with such a contest, refunds for said contest will be at the discretion of the DC administration. Contest Extensions: At the contest holder’s expense, extensions may be applied to a contest in one week multiples, with a maximum of two (2) extensions per contest. For each one week extension, the contest holder will be charged an additional $20 fee. At the end of each extension, the contest holder must either choose a winner or extend the contest again. If an extension has been purchased prior to, or during, the one week deliberation period allotted for choosing a winner, then, at the end of that extension, the contest holder will be given the full one (1) week or the remainder of a week, respectively, for the sole purpose of choosing a winner from the current entries in the contest. Otherwise, a winner must be chosen by the end of the one week extension period.
Choosing a Winner: If the contest holder does not declare a winner by the 5th week of the contest (i.e. defaults), then he/she voids the above refund policy and forfeits the prize money. At that point, the prize amount will be disbursed appropriately amongst one ore more of the participating designers of the contest and will thereafter be irretrievable.
Non-cash/Low cash contest: As a contest holder in this forum you release DesignContest.net from any and all responsibility for acquiring the completed work submitted by the contest winner. You also release DesignContest.net for any responsibility in ascertaining that the entrants work is his original work and that the entrant has the full right to transfer copyright of that work to you. Designers who enter contests in the low-cash/no-cash forum do so with full understanding that, if declared the winner, it is their sole responsibility to collect the offered prize and to deliver the completed work to the contest holder. By entering these contests, you indicate that you are aware that there is a possibility that fraud will occur, resulting in non-payment for your winning entry.
