Question-Photoshop

Hey, I am currently using photoshop for logo design, and am wondering if by converting it to a vector image (using a program like vectormagic) it will be acceptable for submission.
Thanks,
Nick

Why don't you use Illustrator or Corel for making logo works? It is more convenient and thats why are these programs.
It is an awkward thing to "redraw" raster logos with VectorMagic. It isn't "professional".

BTW, you can still export your paths from PShop to Illustrator. ;-)

regards, zoli

Hi nickman,

If you have Photoshop, then you should try to make money doing Photoshop work; otherwise, what's the point of having it, right? A vector drawing application is the cost associated with doing logo design. You should not attempt to do logo design until you are ready to endure this cost. Trying to mimic the vector drawing process with automated vector tools will likely produce a sub-par product, which can easily become your client's worst nightmare. I don't think this is the correct path to take.

Hi!

You can do all the "vector job" INSIDE Photoshop! You just have to get the taste and you are goin to do everything you can with shapes!

Illustrator is the industry standard tool for logo design.

Since you already have Photoshop I say work on your vector projects with the pen tool in Photoshop. The pen tool is fantastic once you get used to it, you can create any shape you need with it. I love You should certainly consider investing in Illustrator once you have the funds though, especially if you are going to do this professionally.

Programs that take a raster image and automatically convert it to a vector format aren't going to give professional results though. Illustrator has a tool to create a vector from a raster as well but even theirs is not recommended! For something important as a companies identity the time needs to be taken to make it as perfect and professional as possible.

pen tool = <3!

Nice to see someone in here from North Texas, .. Dallas whoop whoop!!!..lol Wichita Falls, right here.

Yea, I tried to take tutorials to help me learn the Pen tool better, and they are just as confusing..lol so I'm downloading a trial of Illustrator to get into it a littel bit and try it out..learn the ropes a little bit...

Everytime I try to use the pen too I get wierd shapes, but only b/c I'm not very well oriented with the Pen Tool myself.. lol
