Portfolio? - puting one togeather??
Portfolio information.
This may be basically useless, or even covered already (I did search)…. but. I wanted to get some information together on what I needed for my portfolio. I’ve been out of school for sometime and haven’t really been able to do much graphic design till recently. I do remember what I was told in school about putting a portfolio together but that was also a bit before the net was as it is today. So figured I needed an update, so to speak. Here are just a few but some are repetitive to what’s been told already. Figured I'd share with everyone. Graphic Design Portfolio Creation Tips You the Designer - Graphic Design Blog Graphic Design Portfolio Projects - Use these Ideas and Projects to Build a Graphic Design Portfolio Top 5 Graphic Design Portfolio Tips What Goes in a Graphic Design Portfolio - Choosing Samples of Your Work for Your Graphic Design Portfolio Design Portfolio Tips Also found this tidbit of info use full since I have no experience (other than playing with HTML code) in website building. This uses Photoshop and some simple html/Css coding. Portfolio design. Part1.. set up in Photoshop Portfolio Design Part 1 | Learning Resources for Adobe Photoshop Part2.. more along the lines of coding html/CSS Portfolio Design Part 2 | Learning Resources for Adobe Photoshop Free site host there are more but I started playing with this one just for a minute. http://www.synthasite.com/ It’s good just to get a portfolio or blog up, but you’re restricted to their site templates, for those of us that are not up to speed on website building then this isn’t a bad start imo. I could be wrong though. ![]() I’m going to go play with a couple more that are at the top of the list when googling “Free Web host”.. as time allows. Please feel free to add anything to this information. Or let me know it’s elementary…possibly delete it if it’s useless. |

I'd like to add another little bit of information, that looks like I didn't include.
some times you have to adjust your portfolio to accomidate the position or job you'd like to obtain. example If I'm looking for someone to just design logos then I don't really want to see Illustrations or Websites. You would still want to show some samples but limit them. You still want to show your versital in your craft. this also pertains to cover letters and your resumé. ![]()

Seconded. For example: In my transition to a developer position from my old line of work I re-designed my site using Joomla, a popular CMS utility. Reason being, a good 90% of the places I was applying for all used Content Management Systems for the bulk of their web work and I wanted to prove I knew how to use it. It paid off.
