great. and true. Something I'd print on the back of my business card. LOL
I tell someone my hourly rate or a set price from start to finish... then I have to explain why it costs so much, cause they have this employee that can do some drawings and is pretty good at photoshop... lol

In general I think most people underestimate what a graphic designer really does.

Thanks for the link. Besides the article, the rest of the blog had lots of useful info. I've bookmarked it. It also had other links to even more stuff that I enjoyed...

Most "clients" who don't understand why a logo is so costly either A) is starting a business that will surely fail; or B) is working with such a small budget that it's probably not worth most designers' time.

Either way, I do my best to explain why a logo is the cornerstone of their budding business, and leads to the direction of all aspects of their branding/marketing... if they still balk, I say "thank you very much" and walk away. I assume they then either go to a website where amateurs post threads like "Will do ur logo 4 only $5!!!", or call their nephew who's taking Digital Art 1 in high school to help em out.

However if they give you zip but expect to give you more clients and redirect people to you and they are big and got a big network then you could reconsider.

I wish all my clients would go through links like these before contacting me. I've added this to my signature to educate as many people as possible now, thanks!
