Ordering prints online?

Hey,
Does anyone know of good printers from whom I can order prints online? Right now I need to get some business cards printed, and none of the printers that I have found will give me 400GSM stock, which I want for my cards. The max I have found till now is 300GSM and have ordered some samples from them, which haven't arrived. :| I tried print100.com since a lot of people have suggested this to me, and their samples look good, very nice print quality, cheap UV spot coating and free rounds corners; only problem is that their best paper is a 230gsm one with matte coating which is quite flimsy, and they'll not print on 400gsm, I asked them.

Any idea where I can get these prints? Otherwise I'll have to go to local printers which will not print in small quantities such as 200-300 cards. They have the stock that I want, but will not print it unless I order 5000-10000 copies....

EDIT: I don't have much of a budget for this, I can't afford to spend $60-70 on 300 cards, so if anyone has used a cheaper printer before and has a good idea of their work then please let me know And remember 400gsm :P

Thanks
- Abhay

I called a local place that a couple clients have used in the past to get me a qoute on your behalf.
200-300 cards 1 sided requested an estimate for both full color and black and white.

As soon as I get the call back I'll forward the information if it falls in your price range.

There is one other place as well but they weren't answering when I called.

I did some name dropping so the price should be discounted a little.... I hope.. lol

Cool, thanks for doing that. It'll give me an idea of the cost at least.

If you are looking for inexpensive, you may want to look into VistaPrint. They are a good first step. I don't know if they offer things like UV spot printing. Is there such a thing as CHEAP UV spot?

The more specialized the card - the more expensive it will be.

It sounds like you are looking for a good price with high quality production. That is not VistaPrint - but their prices are low and it's a step up from making your own. Maybe they would be a good fit for others looking at this post.

@ArtByAudree: Actually, print100.com does give pretty cheap spot UV, $4 for UV on 300 business cards... And the print quality is very good, judging from the samples they sent me. The only thing I wasn't happy with was the weight of the cards; they seemed too flimsy.

Deathdart,

Thanks for the info about Print100. I had not heard about that one. It's good to know what's out there and the options. - especially when they are willing to print samples.

I should rephrase that - print100.com won't print samples of the design that you send them, they have a pre-printed sample pack showing all the different kinds of prints they do that they send you for free.

finally heard back it was alot more than you wanted to spend. and they really didn't know what 400gsm was and based it off of "standard" buisiness card stock. Also said it might cost more depending on the design.? If you want the exact numbers let me know.

Maybe see if any local places might want to do a part trade for design? worst they can say is no.? or you may just find a decent freelance gig.

Thanks for the info, I'll check some more places for prices. Hopefully I can find a local printer who'll be willing to print small quantities... The printing is pretty cheap for large quantities here, as cheap as $0.02 per card if I get 10,000 of them printed, but honestly I wouldn't know what to do with so many cards hehe.
