Home Value Realty - $300 - Dec. 4th

Forum Username: GregPriest

Company Details: Home Value Realty, Inc. is seeking a new logo/branding/tag line identities. Until recently, Home Value Realty was previously known as Help-U-Sell Home Value Realty, as it was formerly affiliated with the franchisor Help-U-Sell Real Estate. As we are no longer affiliated with the Help-U-Sell brand, we are seeking to develop our own logo and branding identity.
Contest Details

Type Of Contest: Logo Design

Contest Title: Home Value Realty

Contest Deadline: December 4

Prize Amount: $300

Colors To Be Used: To be determined. We seek bold colors that are easily and quickly viewable by the public. We have previously used a deep red background with white and yellow lettering. We would prefer to use similar colors (in particular the deep red background), as these show up very well from a distance when used on yard signs and directional signs.

Example URLs: Woodbury Real Estate | Minnesota Real Estate | Home Value Realty | Gregory A. Priest

Home Value Realty seeks logo, branding, and tag lines revolving around the “home” and “value” themes inherent in the company’s name. Home Value Realty provides home sellers with 3 levels, or tiers, of services. Each tier provides a different level of service for a different cost, which can result in varying levels of commission savings (and therefore more “value”) to the home seller. Usage: The new Home Value Realty logo, branding, and tag lines will be used extensively on all advertising, including company yard signs, directional signage, and internet advertising. It will also be used for company letterhead and all company communication. We have previously considered the tag lines "Buying or Selling-providing the most value for your home", or something to that affect. We are hoping that someone can improve upon this line.

All:

First off, my apologies for my tardiness in responding. I was off for the long Holiday weekend.

Second, I am impressed with the creativity and effort put forth by everyone. Thank you.

My requested comments and thoughts are as follows:

Coy: I like the colors, as well as the the incorporation of the home and the dollar sign into the logo. I'll have to mull over the tag line of "Buy or Sell; Your Homes Best Value". That is a very good start, but sounds a little too corny. (Maybe: "Buy or Sell; The Best Value for Your Home"?) Also, the placement of the tag line is assymetrical. I can easily envision this at the top of a yard sign (and other signage), with a phone number (and possibly web address) below. It conveys the name within the logo, which is nice.

Render: First attempt is my preference between your two submissions. Both offer the preferred bold colors (which are necessary for yard signage, as well as to establish a certain identity). I like the incorporation of the home and the "V" (for "Value"), as well as noting the word "Value" in different color (thus focusing attention on this marketplace distinction). Our empahsis in establishing our identity is on the value we bring to home buyers and sellers in the home buying and selling process. (As noted in the original submission, Home Value Realty provides home sellers with 3 levels, or tiers, of services. Each tier provides a different level of service for a different cost, which can result in varying levels of commission savings-and therefore more “value”-to the home seller). The tag line of "The Most Value for Your Investment" doesn't work, however.

Baiske: The incorporation of the dollar sign and the home is ingenious, as are the use of the requested bold colors and the emphasis on the word "Value". I'm not sure about the circle around the dollar sign/home, however.

Robyn: To my untrained and unprofessional eye this looks more like a luggage tag or a key chain; I am not understanding what the looped rope is to signify. The same for the tag line of "Value homes for you"

Please accept my above thoughts in the spirit they are offered, which is to provide feedback and input in the hopes of improving the final end product.

Thank you, one and all. Any additional ideas and input you have is truly appreciated.

Have a great week!

Best regards,

Greg

Additional Comment

CincyTodd:

In my haste to make up for my tardiness in responding I neglected to provide feedback on your submission.

The use of blue as a background color I do not think lends itself to being seen or recognized as much as the red. Red just seems to stand out when used for signage. I do like the emphasis on the word "Home", but I think given our model with an emphasis on "value" (via commission savings, doing more to sell your home than most other real estate companies, etc.) should be the primary driver. Also, the use of the "V" in the roof is unique, but to me looks like it is more of a damaged roof than an emphasis on "value".

Thank you!

Greg

Appreciate the feedback.
I've changed the tag line a bit. Just taking out the Buy and Sell and leaving it "your homes best value". This leaves a nice area for a phone number, web address or even agents name and number. everything else is the same and should be highly visiable at far distance w/ the simple shape and text.

Just a suggestion on usage of the color red, from a designers perspective.
When trying to convey good value for money, red can be detrimental to that message, as financially, to be in the red is a bad thing, its possible that prospective buyers could make the connection subconsciously, just something to think about.

Illumina: Good thought. I appreciate the comment. What color (other than the obvious green) would be more in sync with the value concept?

Nutz:

Thank you for submission. Very impressive. Is there a way to use a background (which will the be the background color for all signs, as this is easily seen and distinguishable). Also, I would like the words "Home" "Value" and "Realty" seperated as seperate words, and capitalized.

Thank you!

Greg

My first entry. I wanted to give the idea of stability with a thick H shaped as a home, while keeping your old color scheme, which will make you recognizable. Thanks for looking and looking forward to receive some feedback
