DC postcard. Prize: "platinum designer" title

The adminnistration of DesignContest.net lauches this design battle to allow new members speed up the process of applying to the DC Design Team. If you win you will get the platinum designer title immediately. Even if you don't it's a great way to have fun and showoff your skills!

You will need to design a DC postcard. Please, take a look at the attached file. The alphabet is the idea for the postcard I had. Please, note that it is only an idea so far and it needs a lot of development. You have a lot of space for your creativity in both graphics and content. You can either leave the words and objects as they are or change them to correspond with design theme.

http://www.designcontest.net/images/postcard.gif

Anybody can enter the contest, however all other rules for guaranteed contests apply for this one as well. If you haven't read the rules you most likely won't get to the team no matter how good your design is.

deadline: Open - until desired design achieved.

To state the obvious, this is going to print. Are there any instructions for number of colors, etc. Are designs that include raster images acceptable, or is vector the word?

I love the idea, BTW...hope it produces even more action!

yes, it is meant for print. However I haven't worked much with print so I can't specify all the detailes. Maybe other admins can help here. However vectors in CMYK should work.

Resurepus, I have a question about the alphabet. Would the alphabet be included on the postcard? Would you have to use the objects for letters? I'm a little confused. Could you help me out?

Thanks,

Matt

NavySeals, let me put it this way - I got this idea with the alphabet (written backwards) and objects (possibly related to design, unlike in the picture I provided), (the slogan can be changed as well) and I think the idea is nice and I would love if you guys could develop it into a finished form. But I'd like to left some space for your creativity. Please, feel free to show us your vision of the postcard. However your work should be creative and some kind of idea behind your design would be great.

I would also like you guys to stick to the current D and C shape. Color variations are allowed.

McFly and nonameface: I know this is not easy to post the first entries to the contest, however I should be honest even in spite of that. These are not the works of Platinum Designer level we are looking for and I don't see much of idea behind the designs I wrote about above.

Can you post a vector DC logo file for use in developing the artwork?

postcard

i don't know if you wanted an ad type or just a plain postcard, i borrowed a few things from the site to help me with this thing, as you know anything can be changed... also, i figure the front of this one can also be used for a regular postcard so all was not a waste, anyhow, i hope this helps. thanks!

Nice idea(s) Shane and render

render: You can borrow anything you want from the website (logo, colours, background, styles) but because that photo was given to us by Belladonna, we can't use it in print. She got it off of a royalty-free CD that she owns, and I am not sure of the copyright issues.

Good luck Everyone!

Well, I went for the minimal/simplistic approach, I dont think I like the style of the bar, but Ill replace it with something later. Im heading to bed, but here is what I have so far:

http://designcontest.greycobra.com/D...ontestcard.jpg

I tried playing with contrast and color settings to make the eyes divert to the DC logo first. Not sure how well it will work, but in theory it should

Comments or ideas on how to improve this design to make something more professional would be great.

rENDER, yours looks great! I might go with a blue instead of green hue (might look smoother imo), but the overall design is very nice looking.

Shane, very original idea! I like it. But I feel regular alphabet with letters and objects leaves more space for color and creativity to show what DC is - a community of very talented designers who can do work in accordance with the highest standards.

Render, I am glad you had courage to try your own idea and it came out very nice! Try to develop the idea with the bow!

Thanks Resurepus and Penguinpedia for the compliments. I will submit some more work using the alphabet and different characters for each letter. I agree that it would show a wide range of characters that represent a community of very talented designers within DC.

Here's my entry.

I already used this image as a wallpaper but I thought it would work very well on a postcard too.
So there it goes.
