![]() Contest Holder: Dominic Project: Corporate Identity for Daraka Foundation Deadline: in two weeks Prize: Credit at the sponsors section of his site Dominic words: "Essentially, I have a vision to fund large quantities of antiretroviral drugs to combat HIV/AIDS by leveraging social responsibility clauses and donation guidelines of major companies in the U.S. and Europe. So, while my goal was to maintain as much funding for the project (I'm footing the bill for the whole startup), I'm happy to treat the winner and a guest to dinner via a $50 prize...just a little something to go along with the fact of knowing you're working to make a difference in the world.

Oh yeah BBig..that's in the right direction. The Dove is over the top though. Can we work the HIV/AIDS piece of this in a bit? Also, it's a touch plain...it isn't bad as it is now...but another version with something a little more unique would be good to have just for comparison.
Julieta, I like the hands, but they look rather non-human. An animated logo...Flash or otherwise might also play in here...hmm. |

Eric - That's slick mate. In fact, it's just barely too slick! I'll try to explain it like this: Can we get closer to "professional" rather than "celebrity"? If I were doing a site for something like this: http://www.skmartist.com/ then it would be awesome, but let's go a bit more business. That said, it's strong and I love that.
Also, can we make the AIDS ribbon look more like a ribbon and not an ampersand: "&"? Also is that Trajan Pro? Funny 'cause that's the exact font I've used for the site....so, that's perfect. In fact, a note to all: If you have Trajan Pro...use it. I'll still look at others, but let's put that into the mix. |

Logos
Alright, slight shift:
The Daraka Foundation will be the basis for the whole operation. One Year to Africa will basically be one project. Imagine Sony and say one of their DVD recorder lines. Yeah, they may want a logo for "blu-ray" recorders, but all the materials will be backed by "Sony". Essentially, I've realized that The Daraka Foundation Identity needs the font treatment (as Eric is nailing down pretty well...love Trajan Pro) as well as a strong, well designed logo. One Year to Africa will piggy-back that using Trajan Pro (I'll work on posting what I've got of the site tonight), but what is most important is the logo. It's okay for them to be slightly different. Keep crackin at The Daraka Foundation piece and I'll get you more information to be able to hit One Year to Africa more effectively. |

You suggested animated
Is anyone still here? As per your suggestion I did an animated version.
This is fully scaleable and can either be done in flash or gif with or without animation. Deb animation1 animation2 animation3 My Favorite Last edited by ccs111; 11-12-2004 at 04:22 AM. |

Deb -
Thanks for the animation. Unfortunately, the design is off course from what I envision. The cursive handwriting isn't going to work. The fade through is pretty intense (subtlety is more what I'm looking for). Also, I don't like the fonts. Eric's submission using Trajan Pro is certainly the look that is most appealing thus far. Anyone who wants to take this route....by all means. Thank you for your submission Deb, I really do appreciate it, however I don't think it speaks to the strength and importance of this endeavor. Small note: Always "The Daraka Foundation". Never anything else like "Daraka Foundation". |

Illumina - first off, thank you for your submission! The first piece: While the font treatment there is close, the dove just doesn't fit. The obvious association of peace with the dove imagery doesn't totally fit this project. The second piece with the elephant, while a fair idea, doesn't strike me. This project is about HIV/AIDS and should convey that in some way. Eric still leading on this one. Eric...any other edits on the ribbon theme?
