Company_Details: TeamKATANA is an NFP martial arts team based in Santa Rosa California. Our objective is to provide an educational and sporting environment to competitors of all ages in the local and international martial arts arena. TeamKATANA focuses in the style Seika Ryu Kempo Jiu Jitsu.

Katana is a type of Japanese Long Sword and some representation of that in the identity logo is required. Our style of martial arts also has roots in "dragon myths" so a representation of an asian style dragon should also be incorporated - possible a "shadow" or "fire" dragon.

It is important that the design NOT look like a cartoon.

Examples: - none provided

Colors: TeamKATANA has decided to go with black and orange color scheme.

Style: We are looking for an identity logo that can be used from an envelope and letterhead to embroidery on the back of our uniforms to a team banner to display at tournaments. It is important to have enough detail so that when the logo is large, it doesn't look empty, and at the same time, it is clear, crisp and identifiable when used smaller such as on letterhead.

I like the potential. I am cautious about the font though. When you shrink it down a bit smaller, we have issues of legibility. There are other fonts out there like KARATE.TTF that are also nice, but have the same issue.

The GIF of that dragon is pretty common on the net and if you look closely, it has a city on the inside of it's left wing.

I think that one way to incorporate the dragon and the katana would be for the dragon to be holding the katana in some fashion.

Hey, I had an idea to do the font this way, but before I went all the way, I wanted to see if you think it is too cartoonish for your karate group, or if you would like me to keep going. I've got some more ideas to put with the font, but that will also work if you'd like another font.

The font is interesting but it's hard to tell without any other design factors. I am cautious about the 3D in the font as the detail might be lost on smaller images. Thanks for example... keep 'em coming.

We are in a Non-Profit section for a reason - we are NFP. Being elaborate is not the desired result. The result would be something that is catchy and easy to remember. There is a desired "COOL" factor as well.

This is too simple and doesn't have the "wow" factor. When using a sword, make sure it's a Katana. Examples are like some of the previous submissions.

This is high on the "Cool"/"Wow" factor. The Team Katana needs to be a bit larger so it's clear and you don't have to go searching with the other things going on.

The dragon is cool too. I would like to see more of a frontal view of the dragon head though - not a straight on frontal, just more frontal than lateral.

I like the katana/eye relationship - that's pretty cool.

Great ideas... I'd like to see more variations on this.

This does fit the clean and crisp description that I mentioned earlier, but it is too simple. The font needs to be more in line with the Japanese style of our art.

It's unfinished, I posted this to give you an idea of how it will look
I'll be adding a katana, making it look like the dragon is wrapped around it, I'll change the hue/shading on the dragon to make it more prominent, but when the katana is added, it won't need much more prominence.

I'll post my full entry as soon as I've finished it

This is nice. The font is hard to read. The name should jump out at you without being overbearing. Can we try another font without the adornments - but still with the brush strokes?
