NFME 2008 T-Shirt Design-$70
Contest_Holder: lugnutz
Company_Details: National F-Body Motorsports Event (NFME) - we are a non-profit group of gearheads who get together every year since 1995 to race our cars. We do road course, autocross, drag race and car show all in one event. Originally we were exclusively Camaro and Firebird owners (hence the GM f-body designation) but we have relaxed our rules a bit in recent years. Our official web site is http://www.fbody-event.org/ (our new site for 2008 is still under construction) Type_Of_Contest: Other Title: NFME 2008 T-Shirt Design Deadline: 10/1/2007 Prize: $70 Colors: black, red, white, blue, whatever! Examples: For our pseudo-official logos in the past: http://www.lugnutz.com/event/logo.gif http://www.lugnutz.com/event/f-body_decal.gif Our official web site (under construction) http://www.fbody-event.org The never-finished site for 2007... under galleries you can see lots of action pictures from the event: http://nfme.strasser.us/ I'm personally a big fan of the Plymouth Ad style from the late 60's... see this for an example: http://lugnutz.com/event/101plymouthAd.jpg There is also some great artwork here: http://www.kajerco.com/UniquePosters.htm Depictions of the new camaro: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1323 Comments: First, sorry for the low prize amount... I only have a $70 budget as we are a non-profit, all-volunteer group. We do also plan on putting the winning designer's banner on our sponsors page as well as prominent mention anywhere we have the t-shirt mentioned on our site. What we're looking for is a kick-butt T-shirt design this year! What we have done in the past is to put our logo on the front breast area, then a large graphic design on the back. You job, should you choose to tackle it, is to produce the art for the back that is suitable for a t-shirt. If you like, you can sign your work - as long as it's fairly subtle. As far as what we're looking for.... that's a tough one. It *probably* should have our event name (National F-Body Motorsports Event), the year (2008), location (Memphis) and possibly the date (May 15-17).Consider also this event encompasses road racing, drag racing, autoX and car show - lots of gear heads beating on their cars. Now does this mean each event will be depicted, or just a single depiction that captures the whole theme and ties it in with Memphis? That's up to you! Added to this mismash of requirements- consider adding in the new camaro somehow. The final decision will be made by a small handful of organizer/volunteers (including me.) I've lurked here for a while and am extremely impressed with the talent here. I know you guys will knock us out! BONUS - if you're feeling particularly generous, it would really mean a lot to our group to also get a web banner along the same theme. You can see from our current site that we've got a bad case of the amateur artist. ![]() Designers please note, do not use any trademarked vehicle logos (Chevy, Ford, etc) in the design so there are no problems with copyright issues. Thanks, Vicki

Does this design be made in vectors format or a high resolution jpg? Cause there are different kinds of printing for shirts. And is this design for on a plain white shirt or different colored shirts?

Hello all,
Sorry for the images not working... should be fixed now. Great first impression, eh? ![]() I've been asking the troops what color t-shirt they want (either black or white) and they are currently evenly split. I'm leaning toward white since that's what we've used in the past, but I'm going to leave it up to the artist to design either way - tell me which of those two colors works best with your design. After talking to our most likely print shop, they prefer an Adobe Illustrator file. I ASSume that a .psd photoshop file would be fine as well. I've also added yet another logo sample... I'm still trying to find the most recent one used on the breast area of the shirt and will update this thread if/when we can dig it up. In the meantime, here's another: http://www.lugnutz.com/event/F-Body-logoBare.jpg Although it's a crappy scan, here's the front breast area from our 2006 t-shirt. This should give you an idea of how we replaced the chevy bowtie with "NFME": http://www.lugnutz.com/event/tshirtlogo2006.jpg If I can find someone who has the original art, I'll post it up as well. Thanks guys, jC. Last edited by lugnutz; 09-24-2007 at 08:50 AM. Reason: added t-shirt logo scan |

Sorry it's not more clear... the logos I have linked are ones we have used in the past on the web site, etc... but are NOT exactly the same as what has been on the front of the t-shirt, which replaced the chevy bowtie with the text "NFME". I'm trying to dig this art up, but many of the volunteers who have handled t-shirts in the past are unresponsive.
Anyway, the logos should just be used as a reference to give you ideas. I don't expect the logo to be on the back of the shirt, and if it does appear (in some form or another) it should NOT include the bowtie. I seem to remember that someone from GM corporate said our logo (with the bowtie included) was OK years ago, but I would just rather avoid all potential problems and avoid their trademarks if possible. Thanks and let me know if further clarification is needed. ![]() jC. |

Hey, thanks for submitting some work! That's a pretty cool logo, but not exactly what we're looking for. We are going to keep our existing logo in some form and need the artwork for the back of the shirt. There's no mention of the place (Memphis) or year (2008) or anything to do with a camaro or firebird. Replace the angry creature with a depiction of a camaro drifting sideways in a plume of tire smoke, and you'll be back in the right ballpark.

Thanks for the submissions guys!
itsjunaid - I like the colors and the inclusion of the new camaro, but there's something missing. It doesn't "pop" if that makes any sense. Maybe the car itself is too dark? I'm not sure how that will transfer to a shirt (if you will be able to see the fine detail?) You might also try putting the NFME 2008 at the top of the design, with "May 15-17 Memphis, TN" at the bottom. Just some thoughts... locohenry - Wow. That is some awesome work! My only suggestions are maybe a different color pallet (blues or reds maybe instead of the pinks/purples)... I don't mind the pinks and purples, but some of the guys might be squeamish about it. Also "Auto-X" is misspelled.I'm still trying to dig up the most recent art for the front of the shirt... guys who have it either lost the files or aren't responding to contact attempts. So we may have to recreate the logo from scratch. I'm not expecting a new logo as part of this contest, but if the winning designer wants to help with that too, you'll be our hero. ![]() jC. |

Alastor - Of the updated ones, I like the last one the best (with the engine inside the shield), but I'm not sure that it fully represents our event. It's cool though.
At a minimum, we'd probably want to change the font and move the words around a bit.One other idea for everyone to consider is a theme that we used a number of years ago, and that is the multi-generations of f-body. wikipedia has entries on camaro and firebird - notice the 4 generations there: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Camaro http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontiac_Firebird You could have say a 1st generation camaro, 2nd generation firebird, etc. Adding the new camaro prototype would be icing. Just another idea to kick around. ![]() jC. |

Hi, have been working a bit with an idea I had and retraced the bird from your logo during it.
Another thought that crossed my mind was.. Isn't that bird a trademark also? Rgistered by pontiac that is? Last edited by Arzmir; 09-26-2007 at 04:41 PM. Reason: Removed link to Firebird-logo. |

Arzmir - I did a quick google search on whether the firebird "screaming chicken" is indeed trademarked, but couldn't come to a conclusion (I didn't find anything that said it was or wasn't either way.) I'm not a trademark attorney, so I just don't know. Sorry I can't be of more help on the subject.

Firebird logo is from pontiac.

I'm going change the car to blue and do some freehand lettering on most of the type. sorry about the type-o it was real late and I needed to get to bed.
I thought you only needed a back t-shirt print and the front is going to the logo you have used before? -locohenry |
