Elkhart Titans Baseball Team basic site design, logo vectorization-$200-March 10th
Contest_Holder: jdrew
Company_Details: no company (though I work for Group 262 which has an account here - this account is only used for personal stuff) Type_Of_Contest: Website Design & Logo Vectorization Title: Elkhart Titans Baseball Team basic site design, logo vectorization Deadline: March 10, 2008 Prize: $200 Colors: your choice Comments: My dad runs a small baseball program with teams in a couple age categories. The program (and each team) is called Elkhart Titans. Elkhart is the city where they're located. Dad asked me to help with a website, but I'm a programmer (i.e. definitely not a designer). I have been given an existing logo (http://elkharttitans.com/logo.gif). I don't need any significant changes to the logo, but I need a clean copy of it (without compression artifacts) in a vector format. That's the first part of this contest (very easy I hope). There is not a separate prize for the logo - I hope that's okay. For the meat of the project, I need a basic website design that accommodates these menu items: calendar, sponsors, fields and directions, roster, documents, reminders, news, photos. I like Web 2.0-style sites. I can't find a single baseball team website that's worth showing as an example. I'm not opposed to buying some cheap stock photos. My mental image is of a light-colored site with some generic baseball photo(s) and the Titans' logo in the header. Feel free to go a different direction if you get inspired. Technical requests: * 800x600 target resolution * HTML/CSS w/images (including vector-format logo) as deliverables * the menu needs to be text-based (i.e. CSS-styled list items, I presume). * CSS should include h1 - h4 definitions (even if they're not used in your design - I just want them to fit the design when I use those elements later, and you'll do a better job of making them fit than me) I just need one page design. I'll take your HTML/CSS and make a header and footer as I flesh out the content. I'd like to have the right to use, not use, and/or revise any part of the contest winner's design. I don't know if that's implied, so I'd like to state it explicitly. ![]()

One of the designers here will vectorize the logo for me, so I will have an entry or 2 before deadline.

Yes these contest are open to new member or people who are not in the design team yet. This is a chance for them to design for companies to show what they can do.

Since I'm allowed...
![]() Heres my 1st attempt. Done in Notepad using xhtml strict/css2. The logo isn't a "serious" one but just a quick one since I'm not (yet) an expert in Illustrator vector images. All Images in layered Photoshop .psd. The baseball is a free ($0) stock photo and plain text above. Other photos are from those supplied in .zip. Icons are open source. In the top menu the 'Documents' link shows the hover/active state. In the footer the hover state is the link shown in black. It's just a quick one so suggestions and feedback are welcome. Great. I thought it was either that or the one I used "Brush Script MT"...
Heres a new picture with updated font, 302kb. What i meant earlier was that the group picture wasn't cut out 100% (you can still see a few pixels here and there from the sky and so, plus that one has to build shoulders/arms on the leaders/trainers to the left and right so they aren't cut of etc) plus that the gradients need a polish so they look better and match the "Elkhart colors" more exact. Sure, we can put any picture in there we want. That would bring the cost of the stock photos down to $1. As for the content area, I too hate to write content (UGH!), but it will stretch down as far as you like it to, it expands due to the tiling background. I can code it in xhtml/css tableless design, it's what I specialize in
![]() I will try to work with some of the photos in the zip tonight, to give you a preview.
